15.Wu-Tang Clan- Chamber Music
Release Date- June 30th
Tracks to look out for:
Kill Too Hard
Harbor Masters
Reasoning- The album is overall very good. A few miscues however, only 5 of 9 Wu members are on the album. RZA's skits are kinda boring too.
14. Asher Roth- Asleep in the Bread Aisle
Release Date- April 20th
Tracks to look out for-
Lark On My Go-Kart
His Dream
I Love College
Reasoning- This faggot, er i mean, this guys album is solid for a freshman project. Start's off with a punch in the mouth with "Lark On My Go-Kart" and just goes on from there.
13. 50 Cent- Before I Self Destruct
Release Date- November 9th
Tracks to look out for-
Crime Wave
Psycho
Ok, You're Right
Reasoning- I love 50 Cent's music. This album is his best since The Massacre and overall is a solid underrated album. 50 deserves another chance to be listened to by you.
12. Eminem- Relapse
Release Date- May 19th
Tracks to look out for:
Underground
Deja Vu
Beautiful
Reasoning- Eminem was a bit rusty on this one. When you step away for as long as he did, you kinda lose your touch. However, when you are Eminem, losing your touch a bit is almost unnoticeable. I shelved this album almost right after I got it(due to another album higher on the list). Recently, I have listened to it and it is a very solid album.
11. Jay-Z- Blueprint 3
Release Date- September 8th
Tracks to look out for:
Empire State of Mind
Young Forever
On To the Next One
Reasoning- Some people think this is album of the year. I think it is a disappointment. Being the big Jay-Z fan I am, this album is just radio. Every song is a single. I hate radio which means i hate singles. It does have its bright spots and I do like it but, my expectations were much higher. The other album that dropped September 8th was just a better album all together. Empire State of Mind is an anthem though.
10. Mos Def- The Ecstatic
Release Date- June 9th
Tracks to look out for:
Auditorium
Supermagic
Reasoning- Returning to the roots of Black on Both Sides, Mos Def is a genius. This album got very little promo but it is really good. The song Auditorium with Slick Rick is a classic in my eyes.
9. Slaughterhouse- Slaughterhouse
Release Date- August 11th
Tracks to look out for:
Sound Off
Microphone
The One
Reasoning- The album no one thought would ever be made, was made. All four artists are sooooo good that it just doesn't make sense. I have never seen a group where all artists are just near equally talented. The album starts off strong then kinda tapers off. But overall, good album and leads us to believe bigger better things are possible.
8. Ghostface Killah- Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City
Release Date- September 29th
Tracks to look out for:
Baby
Do Over
Lonely
Reasoning- Not a big fan of the R&B genre unless the artists names are Timberlake or Thicke. Ghost does it though in a way that I love. This is a grown person album, if you listen to Soulja Boy and you like that kiss you through the phone bullshit, you just won't get this album. Songs like "Baby", in which he is talkin about havin a baby with the one he loves is for grown folks, but i understand it and i feel i will become like that one day. My expectations were low, but i was highly rewarded.
7. Joe Budden- Escape Route
Release Date- August 18th
Clothes On A Mannequin
Intro
No Comment
Reasoning- Wow Joey, this was supposed to just be an EP or a delay to the next album, but this album was crazy. The Intro is a knockout and it goes on from there.
6. Joe Budden- Padded Room
Release Date- February 24th
In My Sleep
Exxxes
Pray For Me
Reasoning- The 2nd album of Joe Budden's career took forever to come out!!! However, it was well worth it. If you are dumb, lol this album is not for you. You will have to comprehend a lot more than you are used to in other Hip Hop due to Joe Buddens "Emo-style" rap. Very emotional rap album.
5. Jadakiss- The Last Kiss
Release Date- April 7th
Pain & Torture
Letter to B.I.G.
Who's Real
Reasoning- Jada's Def Jam debut was very good. With cameos from Busta, GFK, Busta and Mary J to name a few, the album works. The single for the album, Who's Real, surprisingly despite the odd combination works somehow. The album is solid and sends Roc-A-Fella off on a high note.
4. Rick Ross- Deeper Than Rap
Release Date- April 21st
Tracks to look out for:
In Cold Blood
Mafia Music
Yacht Club
Reasoning- This will be the most criticized ranking. Look, 50 killed him....i know. But, Ross makes good music that you just can't deny. This guy just knows how to make an album. I like everyone of his albums and this is his best. The beats are all soooo crack which may be the reason I like it so much but Ross is actually a solid lyricist too.
3. Clipse- Til the Casket Drops
Release Date- December 8th
Tracks to look out for:
Popular Demand
Counseling
Champion
Reasoning- Maybe not the album of the year i thought it to be, still a great album from our favorite duo. Love these guys and i love the album. It is hard to out do a classic like Hell Hath No Fury. I personally have began to like Malice more and more and he outdoes Pusha on nearly every track. I just wanna know why the fuck Yo Gotti is on the album?????????
2. Blakroc- Blakroc
Release Date- November 27th
Stay Off the Fuckin Flowers
Coochie
On the Vista
Ain't Nothin Like You
Reasoning- First off, I really didn't know what the album was about until my cousin told me about it the day before it's release. He told me about the song "Coochie" with ODB and Luda. I thought to myself with both of those being favorite artists of my mind i needed to pay attention. So i bought it being very open minded and I loooove this album. It is so good from beginning to end. Lyrically, I am not blown away, but you can just jam to this album. It is just one big jam session.
1. Raekwon- Only Built For Cuban Linx Pt. 2
Release Date- September 28th
Tracks to look out for:
New Wu
Gihad
Penitentiary
Ason Jones
Catalina
House of Flying Daggers
Reasoning- It is so clear, this is the album of the year. Wu-Tang is officially back with a vengeance. The second part to the original took 14 years to come out, but damn, it is almost as good as the original. All you have to do is look at the back of the CD and you know it will be great. First off, every Wu-Tang member besides U-God is on the album. The actual Wu-Tang album only had 5 of 9! Not to mention, many many other features from other artists such as Jada, Styles, Busta, Sigel and Slick Rick. Then there is the production. You have production from 3 of the top 5 greatest producers ever in Dr. Dre, J Dilla and RZA not to mention Erick Sermon, Pete Rock and Alchemist. SMH wow so you already know the beats and lyrics are there. Great album, really no down falls. Sadly, however being the better album on September 8th, it didn't outsell Jay-Z. Good news though is that Wu-Tang is back and will be strong players in 2010!!!!
Thanks for checkin the list, give me some feedback!!!
